About

All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Bathinda is a tertiary healthcare institute established by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna (PMSSY). It operates autonomously under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. AIIMS Bathinda is spread over a large area of about 179 Acres and became operational in 2019. AIIMS Bathinda imparts both undergraduate and postgraduate medical education in all branches of medical science and related fields, along with nursing training, to bring together in one place educational facilities of the highest order for the training of personnel in all branches of health care activities.

AIIMS Bathinda is a pioneer in health service delivery and a center of excellence in medical education. The mandate of AIIMS Bathinda is to provide quality medical education and comprehensive patient-centered healthcare services and promote innovative research that aligns with the needs of society. AIIMS Bathinda is using newer pedagogical techniques to achieve its mandate. AIIMS Bathinda has been imparting quality medical education with a tailor-made curriculum that aligns with changing needs. We have introduced the concept of student-centered, problem-based, integrated, and community-oriented learning for our students.

Academic History

The first batch of MBBS of AIIMS Bathinda started at Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), Faridkot campus on a temporary basis as AIIMS campus was under construction on the Bathinda- Dabwali Road. Since October 2020 students have been shifted to the AIIMS Bathinda Campus. The Second Batch of 100 students started from December 2020 in the New Campus Itself. AIIMS Bathinda was allotted 50 MBBS Seats for the first session with 22 seats for general category students, 14 reserved for OBCs, 8 for SCs, 4 reserved for ST students and 2 seats reserved for persons with disabilities (PWD). The seat number has increased to 100 from batch 2020. The institute also offers 60 seats in B.Sc. Nursing. From 2020 session seats are increased for undergraduate courses and now 100 seats are available.

Mission

(a) To develop a pattern of teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education to demonstrate a high standard of medical education to all medical colleges and other allied institutions in India.

(b) To bring together educational facilities of the highest order in one place for the training of medical and paramedical health personnel.

(c) To attain self-sufficiency in postgraduate medical education.

(d) To provide State of Art Medical services to the region's population.
