All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bathinda is a premier tertiary healthcare institution established by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY). Functioning autonomously under the Ministry, the institute spans approximately 179 acres and became fully operational in 2019. AIIMS Bathinda houses a 750-bedded hospital equipped with comprehensive OPD and IPD services, a dedicated Trauma and Emergency wing, and 19 state-of-the-art modular Operation Theatres. The institute currently has 40 functional departments, including 14 super-specialty departments, providing advanced clinical services and specialized healthcare.

Academic History
AIIMS Bathinda is an emerging centre of excellence in medical education, research, and patient care. The institute launched its MBBS program in 2019 with 50 seats, later expanded to 100 per year, following the standardized AIIMS New Delhi curriculum. Equipped with modern classrooms, advanced laboratories, simulation-based training facilities, and a multi-specialty hospital, it provides students with strong academic foundations and extensive clinical exposure.
AIIMS Bathinda has progressed rapidly in postgraduate education, becoming the first among its contemporaries to begin PG programs in 2022 with MD/MS/MDS and MD in Hospital Administration. The introduction of DM/MCh super-specialty courses in July 2023 marked another significant milestone in its academic growth.
The B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing program, offered through the Institute of Nursing Education & Research (INER) since 2022, prepares students as skilled nurses and midwives through rigorous theoretical and clinical training. The M.Sc.(Hons.) Nursing program was started in 2025.
The institute also offers PhD programs, fellowships and various allied health courses. Together, these programs position AIIMS Bathinda as a leading hub for healthcare education and service.
