Community Outreach and Mega Camps:
These initiatives extend quality healthcare to 59 adopted villages, underserved urban communities, schools, and vulnerable populations while providing rich experiential learning opportunities for medical students. The department also offers specialised services in non-communicable diseases, immunisation, adolescent and geriatric health, lifestyle medicine, cancer screening, HIV care, travel medicine, employee wellness, and preventive healthcare. Through the implementation of national health programmes and facilitation of Ayushman Bharat–Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), the department strives to ensure equitable, affordable, and accessible healthcare for all.
Training & Capacity Building:
As a regional centre of excellence, the department conducts regular training programmes for faculty members, residents, interns, medical officers, ASHAs, ANMs, MPHWs, and other healthcare professionals. Capacity-building initiatives include simulation-based skills training, public health emergency preparedness, digital health and ABDM integration, National Health Programme implementation, community-based participatory learning, and continuing medical education, strengthening the healthcare workforce and improving service delivery.
By integrating education, research, patient care, and community outreach, the Department of Community & Family Medicine continues to fulfil its mission of developing competent healthcare professionals, advancing public health practice, and building healthier communities through accessible, equitable, and people-centred primary healthcare development for the public health system.
