RHTC Badal

RHTC Badal is the Rural Health Training Centre (RHTC) of the Department of Community and Family Medicine, AIIMS Bathinda, serving as the department's rural field practice area for healthcare delivery, medical education, and community-based research. Located approximately 33 km from AIIMS Bathinda, the centre caters to the rural populations of the Ghaggar, Maan, Lambi, and Badal regions of Punjab.

The multidisciplinary healthcare team from AIIMS Bathinda provides comprehensive primary healthcare services encompassing promotive, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative care. Services include General Outpatient Department (OPD), Geriatric OPD, Child Health OPD, Maternal Health OPD, immunisation services, management of common illnesses, and implementation of various National Health Programmes. The centre also conducts regular community outreach activities, health camps, and health education and awareness sessions to promote healthy lifestyles and disease prevention. As part of routine clinical services, every beneficiary undergoes anthropometric assessment, including height, weight, and body mass index (BMI). Screening services include non-communicable diseases (NCDs), oral cancer, cervical cancer through Pap smear testing, and other preventive health assessments, with timely referral for specialised care whenever indicated.

Beyond service delivery, RHTC Badal functions as a key teaching and training centre for undergraduate medical students through community postings, providing hands-on exposure to rural healthcare, public health programmes, and community-oriented primary care while strengthening healthcare services for the surrounding rural population.

RHTC Sangat

Rural Health Training Centre (RHTC), Sangat, is the rural field practice area of the Department of Community and Family Medicine, AIIMS Bathinda, providing comprehensive primary healthcare and supporting the implementation of National Health Programmes. The centre delivers promotive, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative health services while conducting regular community outreach activities, health camps, and awareness campaigns on priority public health issues, including HPV vaccination and cervical cancer prevention, hygiene, anaemia, hepatitis B and C, tuberculosis prevention and treatment adherence, nutrition, and non-communicable diseases. RHTC Sangat also serves as a capacity building centre by training ASHAs, ANMs, and other frontline healthcare workers on HPV vaccination, immunisation, diarrhoeal disease management, family planning, nutrition during the first 2,000 days of life, and IMNCI. In addition, it functions as an important teaching centre for MBBS students through community postings and the Family Adoption Programme, providing practical exposure to rural healthcare delivery and community-oriented primary care.

UHTC Lal Singh Basti

The Urban Health Training Centre, under the guidance and support of AIIMS Bathinda, has continued to provide comprehensive primary healthcare services to the urban community.

The increasing patient attendance reflects growing community trust and increased service utilisation. The centre played an important role in the screening, diagnosis, management, and follow-up of non-communicable diseases, communicable diseases, maternal health conditions, and other common illnesses.

  • NCD Clinic Services:

  • NCD clinic services are conducted regularly every Thursday at UHTC for screening, management, and follow-up of patients with non-communicable diseases.
  • Patients are routinely screened for major NCDs, including diabetes mellitus and hypertension, along with associated complications and coexisting conditions. Random Blood Sugar (RBS) testing is performed using Capillary Blood Glucose (CBG) to diagnose and monitor.
  • Screening for peripheral neuropathy through Vibrasense machine-based assessment.
  • Individualised dietary charts and lifestyle modification counselling are provided to diabetic patients for better disease control and prevention of long-term complications.
  • Patients requiring further investigations, specialist consultation, or advanced management are referred to AIIMS Bathinda for comprehensive care and treatment.
  • Individualised cards for follow-up of NCD patients.
